We stage two major concerts a year with full orchestra and professional soloists in St Mary's Church, Hadleigh, along with a summer programme of lighter music and a celebration of Christmas, usually in aid of local charities.
At last year's Celebration of Christmas, the choir was joined by harpist, Marged Hall and soloist William Russell (who also sang with us for Elijah). Pieces included movements from Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, an arrangement by Chris Phelps of Away in a Manger, with harp, along with some more traditional carols when an enthusiastic audience joined in. Serendipity also sang a selection of carols, including the traditional Spanish carol, Riu Riu Chiu. The evening ended with mulled wine and a retiring collection for The Cancer Campaign in Suffolk which raised £582 for the charity.
In November, we staged a performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah with soloists, Elinor Rolfe Johnson (soprano), Sian Cameron (mezzo soprano), Huw Ynyr (tenor), Owain Browne (bass) and William Russell (treble) to an audience of over 250.
